Lady Aitchison Hospital, Lahore was established in February 15, 1887 outside the walled city of Lahore which has now become the most thickly populated area of the city. It was named after the Lord wife of Governor of British Rule, Lady Aitchison. Over the years, the hospital has expanded to 200 beds and has become first choice of maternity care for people of a vast catchment area spread beyond provincial boundaries. Lady Aitchison Hospital is affiliated with the most prestigious and historical institution that is “Kind Edward Medical University” Lahore in 1999 and is tertiary care teaching hospital with staff strength of 488. The hospital is over burdened with a large number of expecting mothers and patients of Gynecological ailments which range from 200 to 300 in OPD, 100 to 150 in emergency and 35 to 40 births in a day.
