Job Summary:
The Project Manager will lead the implementation of an innovative project aimed at improving reading and comprehension for upper primary grade students in rural communities through the use of tablet devices. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering key project outputs toward increasing access to reading materials, student time spent reading, and improved reading outcomes. The position will be responsible for daily management of the project including project reporting and budget management and will provide leadership and support to the implementing team including IT and Monitoring & Evaluation
Roles and Responsibility:
Responsible for overall project and its deliverables
Develop procedures to conduct needs assessment activities to ensure that the design and delivery of training activities are based on the needs of target beneficiaries, are well received, culturally appropriate, and on target to meet project deliverables
Plan and Implement activities to improve reading capacity of target beneficiaries.
Arrange the training of the beneficiaries to use tablets for reading
Facilitate designing and planning of specialized training activities for language and comprehension
Day-to-day management of project activities, inputs, timelines, risks and cost.
Mitigate issues/risks in a timely manner and ensures optimal utilization of operational and financial resources
Work closely with project staff to ensure compliance with budget, work procedures and quality standards
Develop monitoring systems & tools for tracking project deliverables and means of verification
Implement, communicate and manage project interventions to achieve project outcomes
Supervise project related monitoring and evaluation activities, including Reading Assessments
Provide monitoring updates and reporting of project progress to all the stakeholders including the Executive Director and donor
Work with Director Training to review and select leveled reading materials
Manage internal and external communications related to project
Track expenditures and provide monthly financial reports.
Education & Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education OR Business Administration OR Project Management
Experience & Skills
5-7 years of relevant experience of Project Management preferably in USAID funded Education Projects.
Experience with early literacy skills assessments.
Strong project management and execution skills, report writing and budget management skills, staff management, sound computer knowledge, excellent communication skills in English (Oral & written), familiarity and comfort with tablet devices
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Adept at problem solving. Well-developed leadership skills
Experience working with larger donor funded projects, especially USAID. Training experience preferred
Sound knowledge of ICT for Education framework
