IT project Manager
Job Overview
As an IT Project manager, you will join an educational institute to lead, guide, and instruct vendors and customers on IT aspects and projects through the delivery of multiple applications, softwares, and projects within the portfolio. You will serve as the technology point of contact to ensure that the business stakeholder’s expectations with respect to the program cost, timelines and scope are achieved.
What You’ll be Doing
Interpret the overall program guiding principles, budget, timelines, and scope such that the customers has a clear sense of purpose and context within which to plan, manage, and execute the system.
Work with the business and stakeholders to understand the requirements and help with the completion of the implementation of the MIS system.
Integrate the individual project timelines to develop an overall program timeline that highlights project interdependencies, key decision points, and risks to the program delivery dates.
Ensure that the program risks, issues, actions, and decisions are managed, mitigated, and addressed across the technology portfolio and within the context of the larger, overall Program.
Ensure that all necessary risk assessments and risk assessment processes are carried out at the appropriate time (Architecture, Governance, Security Threat Risk Assessment, and Operational Gating).
Ensure that the technology solution is delivered to meet CIBC’s technology strategy and standards.
Provide weekly/monthly status reporting in the standard and format required by the program and the technology organizations.
Manage the delivery of the program through a matrix organization, across Application Development, Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, Architecture, Technology Operations, Technology Vendors, etc.
Facilitate and negotiate outcomes across the business and technology teams and maintain excellent relationship with the program stakeholders, business sponsors, and executive team members, as required.
Lead the technology components of any RFPs, vendor evaluations, and selection processes.
Manage statements of work, contracts development, and administration of contracts.
Act as an escalation point for the director and provide a solution when a project is approaching a yellow or red status.
Oversee, coach, and mentor the customers in the development project charters, budgets, and timelines for the individual projects.
Provide performance feedback to customers and vendors.
Job Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor degree in engineering, business, or technical discipline.
Must have 8 to 10 years of project delivery experience
Experience as a people manager with proven leadership, coaching, and resource management
Sufficient skills to lead and motivate a workforce faced with significant change considered an asset
Must have experience delivering Application projects through the entire project management lifecycle
Must have extensive experience and knowledge with techniques for planning, organizing, and monitoring kmultiple projects simultaneously
Must have strong leadership, coaching, and relationship management skills
Must have effective influencing skills to impact decisions
Must have strong communication and analytical skills
PMP considered an asset
MS Project and Plan view considered an asset
