Azad Jammu Kashmir needed a public sector Medical college, which could be source of constant production of highly trained and competent doctors in all fields of medicine. The need assumed critical situation during 2005 earthquake when seriously injured patients had to be shifted to Islamabad. The roads were broken down and shifting took hours, which was matter of death and life for thousands of patients. The present administration and authorities therefore sensibly made a final decision with full determination to launch this Medical College in the heart of capital city Muzaffarabad.
