Oman Rail has the mandate to develop the rail network as a major step in Oman’s journey to become a key logistics hub for the region. The rail network is being built in conjunction with other GCC member countries to connect rail services within the Gulf countries. The 2,135kilometre rail network – the country’s first – is connecting major Oman Ports of Sohar, Duqm and Salalah, to the GCC and consequently wides region.

Principal Accountabilities | |
Key Responsibilities: • Interface with the CEO of the Company and other department heads on legal, ethical, commercial and compliance matters as required. • Manage the Legal Department • Manage all legal and compliance business issues of Oman Rail in conformance with the laws of Oman, and Policies and Procedures of Oman Rail. • Act as a member of the Oman Rail Leadership Team and other committees. • Provide sound, timely and quality legal advice and services on current matters & potential business ventures to Oman Rail and stakeholders within the Government & other shareholders. • Provide legal advice on Committees or Board issues in order to safeguard the company’s reputation, image & staff and mitigations. • Manage external legal counsel matters and proceedings (court, arbitrations or disputes) on behalf of the Company. • Manage the communications of any relevant Legislations and Local trading law changes that may impact the business. • Facilitate legal and contractual settlements and claims in a fair manner safeguarding community relations. • Manage and administer land acquisition matters. • Ensure legal endorsement of Corporate policies, associated company documents and business agreements to ensure that Oman Rail’s liabilities are protected QHSSE Responsibilities and Information Security Responsibilities: • Plays an active role in the development and implementation of the Safety Management System and Competence Management System requirements within their Department and provides the leadership to ensure that contents of Environment, Quality, Health and Safety and Information Security policy statements are known and understood by their staff. • Provides input into the development of the Environment, Quality, Health and Safety and Information Security policy statements • Exercises a personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions, and promote the same within their area of responsibility • Ensures that a good QHSE and Information Security culture is promoted within their departments and among their peers • Leads by example and ensures that ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimize the generation of waste are identified and responded to within their area of responsibility • Protects information assets and data including both electronic and paper based from all threats whether internal, external, deliberate or accidental • Promotes a good QHSE and Information Security culture among their departments and peers • Conducts regular reviews of QHSE and Information Security performance within their department and seeks ways to continually improve. • Carries out regular safety tours and inspections. | |
